IECQ
HSPM QC 080000 —Is an International Standard established
as a certification process for corporations to manage, minimize
and/or eliminate hazardous substances. Hazardous Substance
Process Management (HSPM) is a common sense technical approach
to implementing and maintaining Hazardous Substance Free
(HSF) products and production processes. It was developed to enable
suppliers to demonstrate through third party assessment, their compliance
to customer requirements for HSF electrical and electronic components
and assemblies that meet specific local, National and International
requirements.
HSPM certification through the International Electrotechnical Commission
Quality Assessment (IECQ) System for Electronic Components provides
companies with an international certification process by which they
may demonstrate their ability to control and manage design activities,
their supply chain, materials management, and manufacturing processes
specific to their customer requirements for IECQ HSPM and HSF components
and assemblies. Companies that can understand IECQ HSPMQC
080000 find it to be a common-sense way to deal with Green
Process Requirements including compliance with RoHS
and WEEE.
NSAI is a supervising inspectorate (SI) for the IECQ and we were
the first registrar in the world to issue an IECQ HSPM QC 080000
certificate as well as the only registrar in North America to hold
a certificate.
The Guideline for HSPM
• Identify all the Hazardous Substances
• Meet the legal requirements and observe the customer’s regulations
• Set up the policies and the objectives for consumers regarding
the Hazardous Substances
• Clarify the range of consumers responsibilities
• Process Documentation
• Identify the sources of the raw substances for the products
• Manage the distribution chain
• Set up the regulations to prevent the contaminations of Hazardous
Substances
• Carry out thoroughly the policies governing the Hazardous Substances
ABOUT IECQ
The IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission)
supplies the global market with multilateral standards and conformity
assessment programs that are key to international trade in the electrical
and electronics fields. IECQ (International Electrotechnical Commission
Quality Assessment Scheme for Electronic Components) is the IEC's
conformity assessment and product certification scheme focused on
the quality assessment of electronic components and associated processes
and materials.
IECQ conformity assessments are truly global in concept and practice,
reducing trade barriers caused by different certification criteria
in various countries and helping industry succeed and expand into
new markets. By helping to remove significant delays and costs of
multiple testing and approvals, IECQ conformity assessments enable
industry to reach the market with greater speed and less expense.
IECQ provides internationally recognized, impartial, and independent
assessment and certification programs, free of either buyers’ or
sellers’ bias. Assessment criteria are known to the applicants and
their stakeholders, yet information and data acquired during assessments
are held in the strictest of confidence. Participants are provided
continuing visibility in the Register of IECQ companies.
"The QC080000 ( RoHS) certification was mandatory for us to
maintain our leader position in the Harness & Cable assembly industries.
The NSAI auditor performed a great audit on our RoHS processes and proposed some
very constructive observations. We were very good in our understanding
of this new specification, now we are even better. Our RoHS certification
is the result of a dedicated team."

“NSAI played an important role as an independent registrar to help
our company facilitate and realize our short term and long term
objectives. Our certifications and quality standards speak volume
amongst our customers as well as our competitors. We know have tangible
distinctions that separate us from our competition when certifying
RoHS components, products, and manufacturing processes.”
